One is a Delicious Number

I’ve been trying to eat clean. I’ll be honest – it’s not easy… 🙂
I somehow came across a link and video to Beyond Diet. I’m not endorsing any diet – but the video (if you can get through all the personal back story) holds a lot of really interesting and what I think is pretty useful information. I was especially interested in eating more foods that have one ingredient – bananas, chicken, steak… I’ve never been a sauce and condiment person – so this sounds great to me. I personally believe that if you have to enhance the flavor of something by drowning it in dressing/sauce then it probably isn’t prepared correctly anyway. It also has probably the most abbreviated list of what not to eat. Now everyone is different in what triggers their weight gain – but everyone knows that trans fat is not good for anybody. They also believe in being gluten-free. Here’s another bonus for me – I’ve never really been a bread person. I do have the occasional sandwich for lunch – but I have no bread in my house. Growing up we never had rolls/bread with dinner s so it’s never been a part of my diet.
Many people who talk to me about dieting tell me they can’t give up bread. I understand…three years ago I would have told you I could never give up milk. I used to have a large glass every night before I went to bed. Now I don’t even have it in my house. The reason is simple – for me milk = sweets. Again I say life isn’t fair – the world is filled with people who can eat bread every meal and stay thin and people who can drink milk everyday and not gain weight. If you are struggling with weight loss then you are probably not one of those people. But there are always alternatives. The less processed the bread the better – whole grain is much better than white.
Ultimately it’s all about choices. I never wanted to get involved in any kind of diet program because I’d heard so many stories about people gaining all their weight back. That’s because they don’t know how to eat outside what is provided. You can’t just go back to your old diet once you reach your goal – it’s a total lifestyle change. This means being educated about what you put in your body. Also, food should be delicious – not torture.
There is also another bonus to eating clean. Not only are you putting really healthy food into your body – there is not really any calorie counting because you are not filling up on processed food and chemicals. Your body can convert that food much easier and more efficiently than a packaged meal.
