Yes, it’s another soda blog…

I watched an amazing video today that I can’t get out of my mind. This one is an anti-soda campaign focused on minorities – but it’s got some incredible takeaways.
The card at the end is absolutely shocking – 70,000 Californians have had part or all of their leg amputated in the time of both Iraq and Afghan wars!?!? WHAT?!?!? Your soda is killing you and guess what the government doesn’t care. Yes, that’s harsh but it’s true. Like big oil – soda is big business.
Why do so many Americans continue to make poor health choices? Sure it’s passed down from generation to generation, but it’s got a lot to do with marketing. I bet most of you can sing the “I’d like to buy the world a coke song”, “I’m a Pepper”, you remember the Mean Joe Green Coke ad, and you remember what soda campaign Michael Jackson was working on when his hair caught on fire.
There is a reason the soda industry spends billions of dollars in advertising. But there is no reason that we should live in a country where soda is cheaper than clean water.

I’ve been off soda for over a month now. Not even drinking Pepsi Max anymore. When I want something carbonated, I drink Pellegrino.
Thats great – yep i’m hooked on sparkling spring water too! Two ingredients – perfect!
